EDGING/BORDER PATTERN:

BORDER ROW 1
V st in the very first ch/st, (1 dc, ch 1, 1 dc), ch 1, skp 1 st, 1 dc in the next ch…
This is going to be principle in the border row 1, you are going to create a simple mesh pattern with 1 dc, ch 1, skp 1 ch and 1 dc in the next ch until you will reach in the middle spine, where you should end with a dc in the very last dc post from the previous row, and then ch 1 and V st in the 2 ch sp. (Do the other half of the pattern).

BORDER ROW 2
V st in the very first ch/st, and the same mesh pattern from the previous row. After having 6 dc post, you will create a V st in the next dc post. (this V st is at the middle of the clustered stitches in the last row of the body pattern or this is in lined with the dc3tog st) and then after the V st, you will resume with the mesh pattern. Basically, you are going to put a V st in every dc posts where there is a dc3tog from the last row of the body pattern.
In the center spine, when you have arrived at the last dc post, ch 1 and create a V st in the 1 ch sp which is at the center spine. (Do the other half of the pattern)

BORDER ROW 3
The beginning of the row is just the same with a V st at the very first ch, and then the mesh stitches, until you will reach the very first V st (there is a total of dc posts, excluding the first V st, before the first V st at the beginning of the row and 13 dc posts between V st and the next V st) from the previous row. In every dc post of the V st, you are going to make another V st and then ch 1 and 1 dc in the 1 ch sp of the V st. A total of 2 V created at this row with a dc post in between.
Center spine is just the same from the previous row.
Center spine is the same with the previous row.

Lacoepa Shawl

BORDER ROW 4
The same pattern, V st at the very first ch, and then the mesh stitches until the first V st of the previous row, (8 dc post, excluding the V st at the beginning and 13 dc posts between a V st and the next V st) and then V st in the next dc post which is the first dc post of the V st of the previous row. Still, you are going to create a V st in every dc post of the V of the previous row and ch 1 and then 1 dc in every 1 ch spaces. A total of 5 V stitches with 4 dc posts in between each V st.
Center spine is the same with the previous row.

Lacoepa Shawl

BORDER ROW 5
Ch 1 and 1 sc in each of the stitches but you will create 2 sc in the 1 ch sp of the V stitches.

The V stitches are actually stitch increase to create the ruffled effect. The number of ruffles will coincide with the number of your group or clustered stitches of the body pattern. Hence, the center of the ruffles is at the dc3tog which is also the center of the group of clustered stitches.
